Just for fun. My Journey to Become the Most Interesting Man in the World.

Stillness as Strength

I was talking with someone I recently met last night who’s trying to figure out how to use his IT skills while honoring his faith. That’s something I’ve wrestled with too.

For a long time, I thought faith was something I practiced outside of work — a private matter that didn’t belong in the systems, spreadsheets, and strategy meetings of the day. But I’ve learned that faith can live quietly in the way we lead, listen, and respond.

When chaos hits, and people are anxious, being the calm one in the room is a way of bearing witness. When deadlines tighten and tempers rise, showing patience and steadiness is a form of service. When you treat others with dignity — even in the pressure cooker of project life — that’s faith in action.

Leadership isn’t about who talks the loudest; it’s about who brings the most peace. In IT, that might look like troubleshooting without blame, communicating with grace, or simply pausing long enough to respond thoughtfully instead of reacting emotionally.

If you want to demonstrate your faith at work, start there.
Not with a sermon.
With stillness.
Because calm is contagious, and peace — especially at work — is a fruit of something deeper.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
